In March Gideon Pontus was abandoned at White City Park. We captured him and fostered him until a friend's vet was able to get him into a rescue. We believe he went to one in Margate, FL. He was adopted quickly.
In November or December of 2024 a neighbor's cat had 5 or 6 kittens. In April they appeared in our church yard. We were able to trap 4. The other 1 not trapped, who looked like Joshua, was adopted by the neighbors. The last (assuming it was a kitten) vanished. Kittens in the order of trapping: Vashti, Esther, Joshua, & Caleb. Caleb found a home through Craigslist to be a friend for a couple's kitten. Joshua also found a home through Craigslist for a man whose cats had passed away. Vashti, too, was adopted through Craigslist. The new owners were dog trainers. Esther (AKA Pluto, long story!) was adopted through Home-to-Home for a first-time pet by a nice lady. Unfortunately she discovered she was allergic but luckily a family friend took the cat in August.
Elisa was abandoned at White City Park. We think she might have been dumped from W Midway Rd and ran into the park because a week earlier (late April) a lady said she witnessed a seemingly injured tabby kitten run from the road into the park bushes. Only God knows if that kitten was Elisa, but this story has a happy ending. In May we first spotted the kitten and left a trap over night, and found her in the trap early the next morning. A couple we knew, thanks again to Operation CatSnip of the Treasure Coast, adopted her and renamed her to Lulu.
Former-feral Cindy, who was Saffron until we took her in, was taken home on Christmas Day, 2024 to socialize her for a friend's relative in Miami. Unfortunately, that home didn't work out, neither did the next home with neighbors. We took her back and searched for a more suitable home. In May, through Craigslist, Cindy went to live as a friend for a shy 14 year old girl.
In June we took in 5 semi-feral kittens from a lady off of Nextdoor to find them homes for her. We named them virtue names! Earnest was adopted through Nextdoor by some wonderful people who wanted a kitten. They renamed him to Donnie. Faith was adopted through Nextdoor to be a companion for a man's cat. Hope was adopted by a kind lady through PetClassifieds, despite her tilted head. It turned out that she had a sinus infection and worms, along with being a little feral, but the lady loved her and took her to the vet and Hope, now called Tobina, is healthy and happy! Justice was adopted through Nextdoor by a lady and her daughter to join their pet family. Charity was adopted through Nextdoor thanks to someone sharing our post to this kind lady who adopted her and renamed her to Star. The lady said Star was the missing piece in her life. Now there aren't any missing pieces!
We took these 3 cousins of Faith, Hope, Charity, Earnest, & Justice to find them homes for the lady in July. Unfortunately, they had bad eye infections so Operation CatSnip of the Treasure Coast accepted Hosea, Joel, & Amos. All were adopted soon after. Unfortunately, Amos' home didn't work out.
Phillip, Rose, & Mimi were rescued from a stray mom with another sibling by the mom's feeder, socialized, and taken good care of. Their brother was adopted but he and his sisters weren't finding homes, so we took them in July. Phillip was adopted through Nextdoor by a nice lady and now goes by Lil' Phil. Rose was adopted by a lady with a vendor at the White City Mercantile's first Craft Fair. We had taken her and Mimi to the event and the lady fell in love with Rose. The lady renamed her to Marmalade. Mimi was adopted by a nice family off of Craigslist and the little girl renamed the kitten to Kiwi.
Lily, Dahlia, Magnolia, Lea, & Leo were born to the stray cat who had Phillip, Rose, & Mimi before she was fixed. The feeder took the litter in & fostered them & we helped find them homes. A friend of the foster adopted Lily. A lady we found on Craigslist adopted Dahlia and Lea (one for a friend). A friend's relative adopted Magnolia for their daughter. Leo was adopted by a man on Nextdoor.
Elisha was abandoned at the White City Park in late 2024. Joash was abandoned or he moved by himself to the White City Park early 2025. He became best friends with Elisha. They were adopted together by a couple who often fish at the White City Park. They needed lizard-catchers for their garden and the boys were perfect. They are thriving as inside/outside cats.
